A. Collecting the Student Data

 Online data entry and collection

1. Access the online survey and fill in your information.

2. Access the Student Data Spreadsheet that contains the results of the online survey. (You must login to Eisenhower Google Apps to view this).

B. Directions for working in Google Spreadsheets:

1. Make a Copy of the spreadsheet so that you can edit the data.  Name your copy " Per___Your Name-Student Data"

2. Delete Columns A and B (username and timestamp)  Click in the column and go to EDIT>DELETE COLUMN ___.

3. . Fix any errors in the data.  For example, if someone wrote “Two” instead of “2”, fix it.

4. Insert a 7 new worksheets by making copies of the "Original" worksheet.  Click on the "orignal" tab and choose duplicate from the list that appears.

You should have 8 identical worksheets at this point.

7. Rename your worksheets with the following names.  Click on the tab and choose Rename from the list that appears.

  • Original
  • Sort school, name
  • Sort school, birthday
  • Sort “your choice”
  • Filter 2 siblings
  • Filter “your choice”
  • Averages
  • Min/Max

8. Now You can begin to Sort and Filter your Data using the topics above.

9. Also, have the spreadsheet calculate the average and the minimum and maximum of numerical data on the appropriate worksheets.

10. Project Requirements - Student Info Data Assesment - check here to make sure you completed everything.

Notes:

To Sort and Filter, use the arrow located in the heading of the column that you are working with.

When double sorting, sort the secondary item first, and the primary item second.  For example, if you want to create a list of students according to what elementary school they went to, and then alphabetize them with in those school groups, sort by last name and then by elementary school.

Find the math functions under the greek "E" at the top of your spreadsheet.
